The joint operation to capture Osama Bin Ladin started at 0100 hours PST or 1700 EST. The target city was a compound in a hilly area of Abbotabad, a small town lying some 60 kilometers north of the country's capital city Islamabad.
According to the local residence at around 0115 hours PST they heard rotor noise of several helicopters followed by loud noise of heavy gunfire followed by small explosions. At 0120 hours PST, they heard a huge explosion and saw one of the helicopters crashing into a ball fire.
Some witnesses said they saw in total five and some said six helicopters.
At least one person was killed and another two were injured in the helicopter crash. Rescue team has rushed to the site shortly after the crash was reported. These rescue teams were of military origins and all the civilian rescue teams along with local residence and media were kept far away from this site.
Local media quoted eyewitnesses as saying that there were at least five army helicopters were flying low over the area when one of them crashed into the lawn of a farmer's house.
At least two houses were reportedly engulfed by the huge fire caused by the crashed chopper.

Quienes conocen Abbottabad no pueden creer que Bin Laden haya estado alli, pues ahi esta la Academia del Ejercito de Pakistan... lo ejemplifican como tratar de esconder a Hitler cerca de West Point o Sandhurst.

He leido ya media docena de versiones, desde la muerte de una mujer que usaron como escudo humano, que murio un hijo de Bin Laden y altos asesores, que la ISI colaboro o no, que el helicoptero destruido era un Apache, etc...
