Esta foto fue tomada por uno de los pilotos de un F-4E que estaban haciendo en ese momento un tonel por encima de esta formación de dos F-4E y un E-3A Sentry.
El que tomó la foto, la mantuvo en secreto durante mucho tiempo y pidió a sus compañeros que no cuenten del suceso a sus superiores, porque en ese momento hacer esa maniobra por arriba de un E-3A estaba totalmente prohibida.
El año de la foto fue 1979 sobrevolando Islandia

Con 1 Pod PHOTINT-ELINT en el soporte central trasero, 1 pod ELINT Efir-1M bajo el soporte subalar, un radar SLAR Shtyk MR-1 (radar de apertura sintética lateral) en los laterales del domo del morro, varias cámaras y visores bajo el fuselaje (Kadr, Aist M y Zima), 2 misiles aire-aire (MAA o AAM en inglés) de la familia R-60 para autodefensa en el soporte subalar (rojo en el gráfico) y 2 depósitos desechables de combustible PTB-3000 (verde en el gráfico)

Airbus Military has successfully demonstrated the release of decoy flares from the A400M new generation airlifter as part of the development of the aircraft´s self-protection systems. The flares are designed to mislead heat-seeking anti-aircraft missiles, particularly surface-to-air missiles (SAM).
They are a crucial part of the self-protection system because of the A400M´s ability to operate from short and unpaved airstrips close to the scene of military action where SAMs may be fielded by an enemy.
