Mogami during trials, 1938. Lead ship of her class of light cruisers (five triple 6" gun turrets), she was later converted into a heavy cruiser (five double 8" gun turrets). Later, during WW2 her two aft turrets were removed and she was converted in a seaplane carrier.
German light cruiser Nürnberg. Note the float plane (probably an Arado 196) flying very low over her stern. Nürnberg would survive the war and was given to the Soviet Union as reparations. She remained in service until the late 50's.
