Voy a ver cómo hago. Por lo pronto decirte que los SS-20 de alcance intermedio eran móviles (tanto en trenes como sobre camiones), ciertamente tenían amplia cobertura.

LA INDIA TESTA SU DEFENSA ANTIMISILES


Nueva Delhi, 27 de noviembre, RIA Novosti. Este lunes, en un polígono del Estado de Orissa, la India realizó pruebas del sistema de defensa antimisiles.

Un misil balístico Prithvi 2 (clase "tierra - tierra") fue lanzado en Balasor, y dentro de dos minutos desde una rampa ubicada a 70 kilómetros de la costa se lanzó un interceptor de esa misma clase, que dio en el blanco, destruyéndolo.

Prithvi es uno de los 5 modelos desarrollados en el marco del programa de misiles guiados por la organización DRDO.

El primer cohete de esta clase, Prithvi 1, fue testado en 1988. Es un misil capaz de portar ojivas nucleares y tiene el alcance de 150 kilómetros.

Sus dos modificaciones - Prithvi 2 y Prithvi 3 - tienen el alcance de 250 y 350 kilómetros, respectivamente.

Al término de las actuales pruebas se prevé celebrar una conferencia internacional sobre armas estratégicas y otras tecnologías de defensa.

En la conferencia van a participar científicos de EE UU, Gran Bretaña, Francia, Alemania y Dinamarca.

Calculo que está mal traducido el artículo porque dice un "interceptor de esa misma clase" o es tierra/tierra o es interceptor.

Gracias Snake por la aclaracion.... la india esta trabajando desde hace rato en este tipo de armas, por el constante problema fronterizo con su archi enemigo Pakistan, que es una potencia nuclear ... motivos de sobra para tener estos pepinos

NEW DELHI - India on Monday carried out its first successful test interception of a ballistic missile, using a second missile to destroy the incoming rocket, the Defense Ministry said.


If the interceptor missile — the medium-range and nuclear-capable Prithvi 2 missile — can be transformed into a viable defense system, it would push India into an elite club of nations with working missile shields.
Such a system would vastly boost India's defensive capabilities, especially against neighboring Pakistan. The longtime rivals are both nuclear-armed.
The Defense Ministry called the test "a significant milestone."
According to the ministry, the first missile, a modified Prithvi 2 simulating the "adversary's missile," was launched from the Chandipore test range about 155 miles north of Bhubaneswar, capital of India's Orissa state.
The interceptor, also a Prithvi, was fired a minute later from the Wheeler's Island missile testing center. The island is in the Bay of Bengal, about 105 miles north of Bhubaneswar.
In July, India reported a successful launch of the longer-range Agni 2 nuclear missile for a full day before acknowledging the test failed, with the missile plunging into the sea short of its target.
But this time, Defense Minister A.K. Antony was quick to convey "his heartiest congratulations" to the development team, the statement said.
Until now, the Prithvi had been used only as surface-to-surface missile.
A successful missile interception would represent a major advance for India, analysts said.
"The technology is hard and you have to be working for years," said Robin Hughes, the deputy editor of Janes Defense Weekly. "If they have done that in the first test, it is an exceptional advance in technology."
However, the true capabilities could only be known once India revealed more details about the system, he said.
Most of the technology was home grown and was "validated through this successful mission," the defense ministry statement said.
The nuclear-capable Prithvi 2 can carry a conventional payload of up to 1,100 pounds and has a range of 155 miles. The move to modify it comes after the repeated failure of India's Trishul anti-missile project.
Gen. Ashok Mehta, a retired officer and military commentator, said it was only the first step in a process that would require at least 30 successful tests before the system could be brought online.
India has also been in talks with the Israel, the U.S. and Russia to buy a proven anti-missile defense system, and the Press Trust of India news agency quoted an unnamed defense officials as saying India would still pursue such options.
Mehta said the test was also a message to Pakistan, which does not any similar capacity.

The interceptor test comes a week after the firing of a single Prithvi 2 missile, and 10 days after Pakistan carried out a similar test of its nuclear-capable Ghauri missile, also known as the Hatf 5.
The tests came after the countries concluded a crucial round of peace talks in New Delhi aimed at resolving their differences, including the thorny issue of their territorial dispute over the Himalayan region of
India routinely test-fires missiles it is developing for military use, as does Pakistan. Both countries are usually informed ahead of time of the other's tests. The official said that some 3,000 people from five villages within a radius of 125 miles from Chandipore were temporarily evacuated as a precaution for the test.

Pakistán prueba con éxito otro misil con capacidad nuclear

Se trata del misil Hatf IV, con un alcance medio de 700 kilómetros
Pakistán lanzó con éxito el miércoles una nueva versión experimental de su misil con capacidad de transportar una cabeza nuclear, dijeron autoridades militares.

El misil balístico Hatf IV (Shaheen-I) tiene un alcance medio de 700 kilómetros, indicaron las fuerzas armadas de Pakistán en un comunicado.

Sin embargo, no mencionó detalles del lugar de la prueba, aunque un funcionario militar dijo que el misil llegó a su objetivo. (AP)

Excelente informe Guitro. Ciertamente la India se enfrenta a una paradojal situación, al este, tiene a su vecino violento, causas y raíces tanto políticas como religiosas desde la independencia de ambos; muy cerca tiene la crisis en Afganistán e Irak; al norte tiene los problemas originados por las ex-repúblicas soviéticas; tiene a China nada menos, ocupando territorios y reinos otrora autóctonos como Tibet, sin omitir el conflicto en Cachemira; y no muy lejos, los eternos conflictos en el sudeste asiático. Así que, los hindúes siendo hábiles políticos, atraen contratos y transferencias tecnológicas que sumados al constante aporte hecho por ellos mismos en el campo de laciencia y defensa, es lógico pensar que puedan lograr un arsenal más que respetable...

RUSIA REALIZA CON ÉXITO LANZAMIENTO DE PRUEBA DE UN ANTIMISIL


Moscú, 5 de diciembre, RIA Novosti. Rusia realizó con éxito el lanzamiento de prueba de un antimisil desde el polígono Sary-Shagan, situado en el territorio de Kazajstán, según ha comunicado a RIA Novosti Alexey Kuznetsov, portavoz de las Tropas Espaciales de este país.

El lanzamiento no tenía por objetivo derribar blanco alguno y se hizo para comprobar las características del proyectil, cuyo modelo no se revela, así como para prolongar su vida operativa. La prueba anterior de un antimisil de este tipo, basado en silo subterráneo, había tenido lugar en noviembre de 2004.
