On 29 June 1992, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration placed a contract with Gulfstream Aerospace for the supply of three Gulfstream IV long-range business jets, one example configured for the transport role (designation Tp 102A) and two for the SIGINT role (designated as S 102B Korpen (Raven)). TRW was selected as the prime contractor to supply the S 102B's mission equipment. On 24 October 1992, the first of these aircraft (the Tp 102A 102001 '021') was delivered to F16 at Uppsala. The two S 102Bs (Swedish military serial numbers 102002 and 102003) were delivered to Sweden during 1995 before the installation of their mission suites. The Svenska Flygvapnet is reported to have received its first fully equipped S 102B during April 1997. The S 102B Korpen crew consists of a pilot, co-pilot and four system operators.The two S 102Bs reportedly entered service with F16M at Malmslatt during 1998, with the Korpen reported to have been assigned to a dedicated SIGINT Flight working in conjunction with the unit's S 100B Argus Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft. The two S 102Bs replaced the Swedish Tp 85 Caravelle III SIGINT aircraft, with sources suggesting that the S 102B provides intelligence data for the Swedish government's security agency (the FRA), the Swedish Air Force and the Swedish Navy. When operating with the armed services, the Korpen downlinks data directly to the Air Force's Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC) and the operations rooms of navy surface combatants.

The S 102B got the name “Korpen" (the Raven) and the two aircraft got the individual names “Hugin” and “Munin” after the Scandiavian ancient God Oden’s two ravens, who saw everything that happened in the world.
