At the FIDAE 2024 air show in Santiago, Chile, Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) announced the beginning of collaborative studies to identify potential adaptations of their platforms, such as the C-390 Millennium, for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

The study primarily aims to evaluate the adherence and adaptability of Embraer’s platforms to future challenges to maximize technological autonomy, among other aspects designed to expand the portfolio of solutions.

The C-390 Millennium developed by the Brazilian company Embraer has proven to be a highly reliable platform when choosing a transport aircraft in recent years. So much so that it has been chosen by the Asian Air Forces in a historic step that anticipates significant demand to renew various fleets of medium transport aircraft.

Embraer has managed to position the C-390 Millennium as a viable option in the market, competing with the likes of the C-130 Hercules. In recent years, the C-390 (KC-390) has been incorporated by the FAB and the Portuguese Air Force, while maintaining requests from South Korea, Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.

With this new step grouped within an innovative study, presented at the 23rd edition of the FIDAE (International Air and Space Fair), it is expected that Embraer will venture and offer an aircraft with new capabilities that adapt to the needs of various international clients.

“Embraer has a track record of success in adapting its platforms for different objectives. Joint studies will allow us to expand the portfolio of solutions to meet the operational needs of the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions of the Brazilian Air Force and potential international clients. This is another important step in the long-term relationship between Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force,” stated Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.
