Mechanics and drivers from the Internal Defense Operations Command (CODI) of the Paraguayan Army’s Joint Task Force received certification from Streit Group for the maintenance of 4×4 Typhoon-MRAP armored vehicles. This training took place on-site at the Paraguayan Army base in the city of Concepción, conducted by American specialists in light and heavy armored vehicles.

Currently, the Paraguayan Army has four Typhoon-MRAP vehicles used for combating drug trafficking and terrorism in the northeastern region of the country, known as the “red zone,” in the Departments of Concepción, Canindeyú, Amambay, and Alto Paraná; bordering Brazil. These vehicles were acquired in March of last year.

From CODI, it was mentioned to Zona Militar that both drivers and mechanics of the Army are positioned at the highest international level with this certification, making them available to Armed Forces of other countries for the maintenance of these armored vehicles.

Interinstitutional Meeting
General Abel Acuña led the CODI delegation that met with representatives of the Army and Brazilian Receita in the city of Ponta Porá, adjacent to the city of Pedro Juan Caballero, to coordinate joint actions against cross-border crimes.

In recent operations, the Paraguayan Army seized nearly USD 500,000 worth of illegally produced marijuana within the department of San Pedro. These joint operations are led by CODI, supported by the Air Force, the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD), the National Police, and the Prosecutor’s Office.
