My question was based on one hour of observing your troops in Puerto Argentino 16/6/82 and testimony from a good female friend of mine who visited Buenos Aries last year.I have very fond memories of South America. In 1979 when I was sixteen I joined the merchant navy. My first ship was the Shell tanker SS Asperella, I flew to Panama City on my own to join this ship and spent the next six months on the South American west coast. I visited many places in Curaçao - Venezuela - Colombia - Ecuador - Peru - Chile. I became a man in Venezuela! The people from these countries are beautiful, colourful and generous...I will remember them with much love in my heart.It is with this in mind that three years later I found myself fighting your countrymen in the South Atlantic. Personally speaking, I could not convince my mind that Argentina was the enemy. I never did see Argentina as an enemy then and I still cannot contemplate Argentina as my enemy today. I live with much regret for my part in taking life...I cannot change the past.You will find that I am as patriotic as the next British veteran but I have removed the resentments that plagued my mind about the war of 1982 and I have been set free to live my life with some peace and serenity.No puede haber ninguna duda de que las fuerzas armadas de Argentina nos dio mucho que pensar cuando fuimos hasta el Atlántico Sur en 1982. Yo vivo con mucho pesar por mi parte en la toma de la vida ... No puedo cambiar el pasado.Usted encontrará que soy tan patriota como el veterano británico, pero he quitado los resentimientos que plagaron mi mente acerca de la guerra de 1982 y he sido puesto en libertad para vivir mi vida con un poco de paz y serenidad.</blockquote>
