Tordillo_c222 You have yet to tell me how the islands are any more legally argentine than British, let alone how Argentina’s conquest of its current territories is any more legal and moral than Britain’s conquest of the islands. and as for the argentine settlers, aside from the diaries of Fitzroy and Darwin which prove definitively that the settlers were encouraged to stay, a simple look at the history of the islanders is enough to see the continued influences they had on the islander's society after 1833, with place names, linguistics and overall culture having visible influences from the original argentine settlers, which would have been impossible if they had been evicted in 1833. And Britain’s neglect of the islanders until 1982 proves what exactly? if you were making the case that this neglect would be a good argument for the islanders to join with Argentina, this is too little and too late both due to the fact that Argentina’s outright assault on them followed by decades of harassment outweigh Britain’s neglect, and the fact Britain since then has changed policy and is actively aiding the islanders. And you still use the excuse of Britain’s neglect, while still protesting that the islanders have no say in the issue. And tell me how Argentina is any less usurped from the native populations and neighbouring nations than the islands? Argentina’s entire space was forcibly taken from other nations and tribes at some part in its history, should you and all argentines be stripped of your rights for this? And do you remember who attacked the islanders? Who locked up hundreds of people in Pradera del Ganso (Goose Green) in contradiction to the Geneva Convention? Who put artillery in populated areas so that any bombings would risk harming civilians? The islanders remember this. And do you remember who has spent the past 30 years since this attack trying to prevent them having any possible future by economically blockading them and trying to shut them out of any international organisation? And as for James peck, the very fact that Argentina took one islander getting dual citizenship, and turned it into a propaganda event does Argentina’s image no favours to the islanders. And as I have said before, if Argentina was peacefully and legally able to convince the islanders to unify with Argentina I would have no complaint. However this will never happen so long as Argentines demand they be stripped of their rights and identity, and be suppressed for the "crime" of existing on land Argentina wants. peace and unification will only come when Argentina treats the islanders with the same respect Argentines themselves desire. Peace and greetings
