The last battle of the Worst War in human history, took place in Balkans between Nazi Collaborators and Yugoslav Partisans.</p><p>Nazi decision makers had a very spread out plan for the occupied territories, they sought the like-minded entities in the region and took them under Nazi wings. Throughout Balkans Adolf Hitler had ordered the formation of a number of small Armies to help Nazi cause in case of an Allied attack. One such columns of collaborators started its journey through Yugoslavia, aiming to cross the border and enter British controlled Austria. The plan was well laid out, but odds were against the collaborators and their dream of crossing into Austria was shattered by the Partisan Army.</p><p>The actual conflict started on May 14 when a strong column of Wehrmacht, Croatians, Serbian and Montenegrin Nazi sympathizers approached the border posts of Yugoslav Partisan Army. Although General Alexander Lohr had already surrendered to another section of Partisans on May 9 after being totally outnumbered and besieged by the Partisan Army. However, a strong column of 30,000 men broke off from the surrendering Army and decided to give the crossing a go. Just after 9 am on May 14 1945 fighting started between the groups and continued throughout the day. There were sessions of firing and shelling throughout the night going into the morning of May 15. The battle stopped after the arrival of 20 British tanks, and negotiation began. Nazi collaborators were not ready to accept any other condition but a permission to cross, but British Army made it pretty clear that they could not allow this to happen and that an unconditional surrender is the only possible solution for the collaborators. Eventually around 4pm white flags started rising from the columns and Partisans took control of the whole situation.</p><p>During the 24 hours of intense fighting more then 310 Nazi collaborators died and 250 were badly wounded.
