Ronald Alan Smith Ron lost his battle for life and died 21 August 2009. British veterans have lost a brother but his spirit lives on within us. Translation by Ken: Ron perdió su batalla por la vida y murió el 21 de agosto de 2009. Veteranos británicos han perdido a un hermano...

    Malvinas War/ Guerra de Malvinas

That would be very interesting. I have a friend who served in HMS Hydra (Hospital ship) and he told me that the C130 would use his ship, which was anchored near the approach to the airport, as a visual refrence when landing at Puerto Argentino. Is that true? Translation by Ken: Eso sería muy...

    Malvinas War/ Guerra de Malvinas

Enrique, I'm sure I've covered some detail of C130 ambush attempts by HMS Cardiff in previous posts. I posted the official signal sent to the admiralty by Cardiff called 'Report of Proceedings' at the end of the war which details all weapon expenditure by Cardiff. Interestingly, there is one...

    Malvinas War/ Guerra de Malvinas

I remember reading (don't ask me where) about a group of retreating Arg soldiers attempting a counter attack. The paras (I think) were a bit disturbed by this change in their tactics, as they were very low in ammunition. However, the paras got ready as many grenades as they could, fixed bayonets...

British Youth About the conflict / juventud británica sobre el conflicto

Just talking Let's not call it an argument...we are talking and exchanging views my friend. One question, try and be objective with your reply. If Britain removed all it's armed forces from the South Atlantic, are you absolutely convinced that Argentina's armed forces would not...

British Youth About the conflict / juventud británica sobre el conflicto

Steve, I understand what you are saying, however, one system would make a difference today. It is very likely that British intelligence has targeted key military installations in Argentina for the Tomahawk missile. The defences on the Islands, even today, would not withstand a full-blown...

    Malvinas War/ Guerra de Malvinas

I am not an aviation expert but I think it is floatation equipment. The Arg soldiers are picking up the smallest debris. It was not nice to watch but the Paratroopers were very professional and you knew who was in charge.

    Malvinas War/ Guerra de Malvinas

Good news I have just received an email from Jorge Carrega, former commanding officer PNA Islas Malvinas. He has just received the items of uniform that I sent to Argentina almost a month ago. I am full of joy and very strong emotion at this time.
