While concluding its activities and training with the Brazilian Navy, it has been confirmed that the Jeanne d’Arc 2024 Operational Group of the French Navy will visit the city of Buenos Aires at the end of April, in order to continue its journey south towards Argentina. Led by the amphibious helicopter carrier Tonnerre, the Operational Group has recently completed assistance missions in Haiti, including the evacuation of nationals and reinforcement of diplomatic missions.

As reported in recent weeks, “the Jeanne d’Arc mission is composed of the amphibious helicopter carrier Tonnerre L9014 and the frigate Guépratte of the La Fayette class. Both units are scheduled to travel along the American continent, both along its Atlantic and Pacific coasts. During Jeanne d’Arc, amphibious exercises are planned in Brazil (Belém and Rio de Janeiro) and Chile (Valparaíso), while Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Puerto Williams, Lima, and Cartagena will be some of the ports where the ships will make stops.”

Additionally, “Jeanne d’Arc 2024 consists of 650 sailors, 162 cadets from the Naval Officers Application School (EAOM), 35 instructors, and 120 soldiers from the Army. The latter form an Embarked Tactical Sub-grouping [S/GTE], which includes 40 vehicles of various types for amphibious operations. As mentioned earlier, both ships embark helicopters.”

Regarding its upcoming stop in the city of Buenos Aires, according to a recent press release, it will take place between April 25th and 29th.
