Zona Militar continues to provide the latest updates from the LAAD 2024 Security and Defense Fair currently taking place in Sao Paulo, Brazil. On this occasion, we had the opportunity to visit the booth of the Brazilian company Mac Jee, which has a wide and diverse range of products and services for both Armed Forces and Security Forces. During our visit, we were able to speak with Marcos Alves, the company’s product engineer.

One of the main highlights of the company’s booth has been the new version of the 4×4 Armadillo armored vehicle focused on performing Public Security functions. As the reader will notice, this new version was developed from the original TA-2 variant used for fire support operations and previously presented to the Brazilian Army.

This new variant, based, like the original Armadillo, on the AM General HMMWV M1152 vehicle, has been adapted to meet the requirements of Security Forces, with the option of being equipped with both lethal and non-lethal weapons, providing ballistic protection to its occupants against various types of projectiles, including 5.56mm and 7.62mm. Additionally, if required, it can be integrated with remote weapon stations that can be controlled from inside the vehicle with total safety for the operator.

Continuing with ground systems, it was indicated that various countries in the region, including Colombia, Peru, and Uruguay, have expressed interest in various versions of the Armadillo. In the case of the Uruguayan Army, it was even mentioned that the company will present its proposal to equip the force with new recongnition armored vehicles to meet operational requirements.

Focusing on the segment dedicated to supplying the Armed Forces, Mac Jee highlighted its extensive range of products, including the precision kit for general purpose bombs called Dagger. Equipped with various GPS navigation systems, it transforms a free-fall bomb into a guided munition with an extended range of up to 100 kilometers.

Another important segment of the Brazilian company is the production of fuzes for general purpose bombs, such as the production of their own systems, ranging from MK 81 to MK 84 and BLU 109 versions.

Furthermore, as part of the company’s expansion plans, Mac Jee announced the recent opening of a new plant in Saudi Arabia, resulting from a cooperation agreement signed with the Saudi government in 2022 under the Saudi Vision 2030 Government Plan. This initiative aims to strengthen the defense industry and diversify the economy of the Middle Eastern country.
