A crucial production agreement has been signed, paving the way for the integration of the AKKOR APS onto the Leopard 2A4 MBTs. This strategic move is part of Turkiye’s ongoing efforts to modernise its fleet of Leopard 2A4s, enhancing their protection and electronics to meet the demands of modern warfare. Leopard 2A4 modernisation includes add-on armour on the hull and turret, including ERA and cage armour, for increased resistance against ATGMs and rockets.</p><p></p><p><strong>The addition of AKKOR will especially boost protection against top-attack munitions</strong>, thanks to the high elevation limit of the munition launchers. AKKOR consists of radars and two-tube munition launchers fitted on the turret. The launchers have a high elevation limit, covering the platform against rocket and ATGM threats in a hemisphere.
