Un tema informático que afecta a muchos VGM...

Estimados camaradas:

Como muchos saben, Geocities es una empresa que venía ofreciendo un servicio de hospedaje de sitios de internet en forma gratuita. Además proveía varias herramientas para crear páginas de internet para los que no tuvieran el conocimiento técnico necesario para hacer una.

GeoCities nació en 1994 y fue comprada en 1999 por Yahoo. Pero el 23 de abril de 2009, Yahoo anunció que a finales de año el servicio de Geocities dejaría de ofrecerse. Los motivos alegados para cesar el alojamiento de webs personales fué el descenso de la publicidad.

El 28 de junio de este año se supó finalmente que para el 26 de octubre de 2009 los sitios hospedados en Geocities desaparecerán (ver http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/geocities/close/).

Por lo tanto, a partir del día [FONT=ARIAL, TIMES NEW ROMAN]26 de octubre del 2009[/FONT], "[FONT=ARIAL, TIMES NEW ROMAN]El Apostadero Naval Malvinas en Internet[/FONT]" dejará de estar alojado en los servidores de GeoCities, tras mas de una década de permanencia.

Entonces, ante esta forzada "mudanza", cordialmente les informo que las nuevas direcciones son:

http://www.aposmalvinas.com.ar ó también:

http://www.apostaderomalvinas.com.ar

Por favor, actualicen sus "favoritos" ó "marcadores" con las nuevas direcciones que se indicaron anteriormente, y divulguen esta importante "mudanza" entre todos sus amigos, colegas y demás personas interesadas en la Guerra de las Malvinas.


Pero además, hay muchísimas páginas de vetaranos argentinos y británicos, que tratan sobre el Conflicto del Atlántico Sur de 1982, y están alojadas en Geocities.


Estuve haciendo una revisión de mis "favoritos" ó "marcadores" y encontré que la mayoría de los sitios aún no muestran una redirección hacia un "nuevo" servidor alternativo.

Para esos casos, he recurrido a "Internet Archive Wayback Machine" que es una entidad en la que han ido almacenando las páginas de Geocities de los últimos 15 años.

Se agradece el esfuerzo. Muy interesante. Parece que la recesión afecta de todo y a todos, tambien se eliminaron los grupos de la Comunidad MSN el año pasado.
