[HEADING=2]Canada to Support Chilean Navy’s Scorpene Submarine Navigation Upgrade[/HEADING] Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) has signed a contract to support the modernization of the Chilean Navy’s Scorpene-class submarines. https://www.thedefensepost.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/6800980-2048x1463.jpg Under the agreement, the government-owned procurement agency will assist in the supply of OSI Maritime Systems-built tactical dived navigation systems. Once delivered, the system will be equipped with two of Chile’s Scorpenes. [HEADING=1]Canada and Chile’s Partnership[/HEADING] The contract follows an initial partnership to upgrade the navigation capabilities of two Chilean Thomson-class submarines in 2020. Photo: Lt. Joe Clark/US Navy via Wikimedia Commons According to CCC, the latest agreement enables OSI to further penetrate the maritime market in Chile. “CCC is proud to support OSI Maritime Systems, a leading provider of integrated navigation and tactical solutions designed for naval and maritime security operations, to supply this 100 percent Canadian solution to the Chilean Navy,” CCC Global Business Senior Director Wilson Pearce stated. “We are pleased that the Chilean Navy is once again leveraging CCC and OSI’s capabilities to retrofit their fleet of submarines to extend their operational capabilities,” OSI Maritime Systems CEO and President Ken Kirkpatrick added. [HEADING=1]OSI in Other Naval Programs[/HEADING] OSI has provided navies in 24 nations with solutions ranging from bridge systems to command and control platforms. Vehicles serviced by the British Columbia firm include other foreign submarines and small craft. In February, OSI signed a contract to supply fleet-wide software solutions for the Royal Australian Navy. Last year, the company partnered with European tech provider Arche Systeme to deliver navigation upgrades for the German Navy.
