Once on the ground many of E Squadron defended the Divisional HQ at Oosterbeek. The Regiment suffered 60% casualties during ‘Market Garden’ and never recovered from the losses. </p><p>Brigadier Hackett, commanding 4 Parachute Brigade said of the these men that “they were the finest body of soldiers that the British Army produced in WW2”</p></blockquote><p></p>
