Sin intentar menoscabar a los compatriotas que intervinieron en aquella jornada, entendemos que sus anhelos políticos requieren la consagración de la historia, para quedar definitivamente incorporados a nuestras tradiciones nacionales, debiendo inspirarnos en esta hora, en nuestro glorioso símbolo,la Bandera mancillada el 11 de junio, con bastardos fines; y aprovechando estas circunstancias para realizar el más solemne desagravio, este Comando en Jefe, resuelve: 1º Designar</em>‘General Belgrano’<em>al Crucero ex</em>’17 de Octubre’<em>; 2º La designación elegida servirá para honrar al creador de la Bandera Nacional y al mismo tiempo como desagravio al ultraje que esta recibiera.
