As part of the International Air and Space Fair – FIDAE 2026, held in Santiago, Chile, the South Korean company Hanwha Aerospace announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Spanish company Indra Group to collaborate on a military project in Chile.

The agreement establishes that both companies will work jointly on presenting an integrated solution for the South American country’s armored vehicle modernization program, one of the current focal points in terms of land capabilities.
Under this framework, Hanwha Aerospace will contribute its platforms, including the Tigon wheeled armored vehicle, while Indra will be responsible for the mission systems, covering communications, situational awareness, and command and control (C2) systems. Likewise, the Spanish firm will provide support in operational coordination at the regional level.
Beyond the project in Chile, both companies plan to expand their cooperation for the development of the land defense market in Central and South America, leveraging Indra’s technological experience in defense electronics and its established network in the region. In this regard, Kim Dong-hyun, head of Hanwha Aerospace’s land systems business, stated: “We plan to actively promote our land defense solutions in South America by leveraging Indra’s capabilities in defense electronics and its local network in the region.”

Hanwha emphasized that this partnership seeks not only to strengthen its position in Latin America, but also to contribute to the development of local capabilities, promoting both the modernization of the armed forces and the growth of the defense industry in countries such as Chile.
