Within the framework of the international defense and security exhibition “World Defense Show,” held in Saudi Arabia, where numerous countries and companies are showcasing new systems and equipment, the Russian state consortium Rostec once again drew attention by presenting the new version of the RPG-29 anti-tank rocket launcher used by the Russian Ground Forces.

As a novelty, the company reported that this new version of the launcher, designated RPG-29M, is lighter, more versatile, and more ergonomic than its previous variants. In addition, it can be equipped with modern optical and thermal sights, its firing range has been doubled, and the new charge system expands the range of available ammunition, making it a much more effective option against a wide variety of targets, particularly heavy armored vehicles, even when reinforced with reactive armor and additional protection.

Regarding the RPG-29M, the company stated: “According to the assessment of our specialists, the long effective range, accuracy, and armor penetration capability of the RPG-29M make it a leader in its market segment. The modernized launcher can effectively engage a wide variety of battlefield targets. These include tanks and other heavy armored vehicles, (…) combat vehicle crews and enemy personnel, their fire assets, fortifications, shelters, and other military objectives. At the same time, the launcher is significantly lighter, places less strain on the operator, and is more comfortable to handle.”

The RPG-29M can fire PG-29VM anti-tank rounds, TBG-29VM thermobaric rounds, and MG-29V multipurpose projectiles, as well as incendiary and fragmentation ammunition. The only requirement for employing different types is the input of their specific ballistic parameters into the sight.

Rostec is making a strong showing at World Defense Show, with the presentation of the RPG-29M representing another step forward for the Russian consortium, which also displayed the new BTR-22 8×8 armored personnel carrier of the national Ground Forces, the Planshet-A artillery command and control vehicles, the Sarma multiple rocket artillery system mounted on a KAMAZ-63501 truck chassis, and the Ballista remote weapon station.
