With the confirmation of the arrival of six M108 Self-Propelled Artillery Vehicles (VCA) donated by Brazil to the Paraguayan Army, the country will acquire its first 105mm self-propelled howitzers in its history.

“The Brazilian Army is undergoing a modernization process; they have a replacement program, and they consulted us about whether we would accept this donation. These self-propelled vehicles are fully operational, have been inspected by our specialists, and have our approval,” said General Rodríguez.
“This provides us with new capabilities in terms of doctrine, training, and operational capacity. These are more mobile vehicles with a 105-millimeter cannon. They will be the first of their kind in the history of our Army, and our personnel are at the forefront of their operation,” remarked the Paraguayan Army commander.

After approval from the Brazilian side, the Paraguayan National Defense Commission gave its approval, and it must then be approved by the Paraguayan Congress for the howitzers to reach Guarani territory.
Regarding the floating aluminum bridge included in this first donation package, Rodríguez stated that it measures 122 meters in length. As for the EE-11 Urutu 6×6 armored vehicles also arriving from Brazil, the commander confirmed that they are in process but will arrive after the M108s.
