After completing the delivery of Su-34 strike aircraft a few days ago, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) reported that it has also carried out the delivery of a new batch of Sukhoi Su-35S fighters to the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS). Thus, and following deliveries confirmed in previous months, the Russian state consortium is estimated to have provided a total of between 10 and 12 new fighters during the current year 2025, fulfilling orders placed by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

As of today, the Su-35S is the most modern and capable iteration of the Flanker family in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces, being manufactured at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant (KnAAZ), where the fifth-generation stealth fighter Su-57 Felon is also produced.

It is equipped with new avionics, electronic warfare systems, and the powerful Irbis-E PESA radar, which, operating in the X-band, has an instrumented range of up to 400 kilometers, according to official statements. In terms of armament, and as reported, the Su-35S is already being equipped with new long-range air-to-air missiles, such as the R-77M, to carry out missions in the Ukrainian theater of operations.

In this context, as with the Su-34, the fighters constitute the main combat asset employed by the VKS in the conflict, performing air cover, interception, and strike missions, as well as defending Russia’s airspace. Therefore, the delivery of new aircraft is of vital importance.

In this regard, as stated by UAC through its official channels on September 24, a new batch of Su-35S fighters was delivered to the Aerospace Forces, marking the fifth provided during the current year 2025. However, as is often the case with such announcements, the consortium did not report the quantities, with only one aircraft visible in the released images.

Taking this into account, and adding up the batches delivered in previous months—March, May, June, and August—where at most two aircraft were observed per batch, it can be inferred that UAC has delivered an estimated total of between ten (10) and twelve (12) Su-35S fighters in 2025.
