In response to the attack launched yesterday, June 12, against its nuclear program, the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have just launched a massive attack with ballistic missiles of various types against several major cities in Israel.
Late yesterday and into the early hours of today, the Israel Defense Forces have been conducting an operation dubbed “Rising Lion,” involving up to 200 Israeli Air Force fighters, as well as the deployment of personnel inside Iranian territory, with the aim of targeting high-value strategic assets.
According to collected reports, an initial wave of attacks — carried out by intelligence operatives and covert operations units — targeted various elements of Iran’s air defense system, including radars and surface-to-air missile launchers, in order to pave the way for the subsequent Israeli air assault on Iran’s nuclear program facilities.
Amid the initial shock and chaos within the command and control structure of the Iranian Armed Forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s response has now begun with the launch of hundreds of ballistic missiles of various types aimed at Israel.
While the specific types of missiles used have not yet been identified, the Israel Defense Forces have issued alerts to the population, and live videos and images show Israeli defense systems in action across the country’s major cities, as well as at key military bases and installations.
Thus far, based on available footage, despite the high effectiveness of the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrow systems, direct impacts by Iranian ballistic missiles have been confirmed in the city of Tel Aviv.
