Within the framework of the International Defense and Security Fair (FEINDEF) held in Madrid, General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS), in collaboration with its partner KNDS, officially unveiled its latest innovation in self-propelled artillery: the Nemesis, an advanced combat system based on the ASCOD platform.

The Némesis stands out for integrating the fully automated 155 mm/L52 Artillery Gun Module (AGM) developed by KNDS, offering a unique combination of indirect firepower, tracked mobility, and a high level of crew protection. This new system builds upon the prior experience of the DONAR project—the first unmanned tracked artillery demonstrator developed by both companies 15 years ago—positioning itself as its natural successor with substantial improvements in technology and performance.

Powered by a 1,100-horsepower engine, the vehicle can be equipped with either steel or composite rubber tracks, allowing it to adapt to the most demanding terrains. Its automated turret offers a full 360-degree rotation, enabling “Shoot & Scoot” maneuvers in any direction, even while on the move. Among its standout features are MRSI (Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact) capability, a range between 54 and 70 kilometers depending on the type of ammunition used, and the option for direct fire, making it a versatile and lethal tool for the modern battlefield.

Thanks to its high degree of automation, the Némesis can be operated by just two crew members, although its ergonomic design allows for a third crew member and even enables completely unmanned operation in future scenarios.

During the event, the wheeled version—PIRANHA AAC 10×10, launched in 2024—was also exhibited for the first time. With these two variants—tracked and wheeled—GDELS expands its portfolio of modern artillery solutions, both based on the KNDS AGM module.

The development of the Némesis represents a new milestone in the strategic cooperation between GDELS and KNDS, reaffirming both companies’ commitment to European strategic autonomy in defense. Additionally, it is being considered as a potential replacement for the outdated M109, still in service with the Spanish Army and other armed forces across the continent.

In an international context where armed conflicts have once again highlighted the need for mobile and effective indirect fire systems, the Némesis emerges as a clear and advanced response to the demands of present and future battlefields.
