During the 2025 edition of the LAAD Defense and Security Fair taking place in Rio de Janeiro, the People’s Republic of China has made its presence known through NORINCO, which is showcasing a wide range of platforms and solutions aimed at equipping the Armed Forces of South America. At its booth, the company is presenting its latest innovations in tracked and wheeled armored combat vehicles, artillery, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and mobile air defense systems.

NORINCO’s main focus at the fair was the presentation of its anti-riot and counter-terrorism products, showcasing a wide array of equipment. Its extensive portfolio includes everything from tactical police vehicles, small arms, and riot control gear to protective equipment for Armed Forces and security units, as well as communication and inspection systems.

Among the featured products is the BZK-005, a high-altitude, long-range unmanned aerial vehicle designed for reconnaissance, incorporating stealth features. On top of its fuselage is a satellite data link antenna, accompanied by electro-optical sensor systems mounted on the body. The BZK-005 has a cruising speed of about 170 km/h, a flight ceiling of 8,000 meters, a maximum takeoff weight of around 1,200 kg, and a maximum payload exceeding 150 kg.

Additionally, NORINCO displayed its line of assault armored vehicles featuring advanced weapons systems, highlighting the VN-22X wheeled armored vehicle models available in 8×8 and 6×6 configurations. These are designed for various roles, ranging from troop transport and fire support to anti-tank and short- to medium-range air defense systems.

The VN-22X 8×8, referred to by NORINCO as a “Mobile Fire Platform,” is armed with a 125 mm cannon, enabling it to engage other armored vehicles such as tanks and other protected targets. Its combination of high mobility and heavy armament makes it a tactical solution for both offensive and defensive operations.

The VN-22X 6×6 is a fire support vehicle, likely equipped with a 105 mm cannon, designed to provide direct fire support to infantry in high-intensity combat thanks to its more compact configuration. With these vehicles, NORINCO aims to create modular platforms adaptable to the needs of various armed forces.

Regarding the Latin American market, NORINCO is looking to expand its client base by offering equipment for both soldiers and armored platforms, along with other modern battlefield solutions. Among the highlights are the Blue Arrow anti-surface missile family, the Red Arrow anti-tank systems, and the GB 25A laser-guided munitions.
