With just days to go before the start of the LAAD 2025 International Fair, the state agency Rosoboronexport has confirmed its attendance in Rio de Janeiro to promote a wide range of products and platforms for the Armed Forces of South America. Among its offerings, the agency will showcase the export version of the Sukhoi Su-57 stealth fighter, which is currently in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS).

In recent months, the Russian state agency, along with United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), has undertaken a series of international efforts to promote the Su-57, Russia’s most advanced combat aircraft. These efforts have been reflected in the presence of a stealth fighter at air festivals and exhibitions held last November in China and, more recently, at AeroIndia this past February.

During the latter event, reports emerged suggesting that these efforts are beginning to bear fruit, with the confirmation of the first export sale of the Sukhoi-developed aircraft, officially designated as the Su-57E.

According to various reports, which still require official confirmation, the Algerian Air Force has become the first operator of the Su-57 outside of Russia, acquiring an undisclosed number of aircraft. Previously, both Rosoboronexport and UAC officials reported that the first export contract had already been secured and that deliveries of the first units are expected to take place later this year.

As part of this strategy and effort—now focused on the South American market at one of its most important events in Brazil—the state agency has stated: “Rosoboronexport will present in Rio de Janeiro the latest Russian military products for all branches of the armed forces that generate the greatest interest in the region. All equipment has been tested in real combat and has been improved based on recommendations from the Russian Armed Forces and other security agencies involved in the special military operation.”

In addition to promoting the Su-57E in Brazil, other key systems on display will include the Sukhoi Su-35 air superiority fighter, Mil Mi-17Sh helicopters, and the Ka-52E attack helicopters. For ground forces, the latest version of the T-90MS tank will be showcased. Meanwhile, in the air defense sector, the S-400, S-350, and Tor-M2K systems will also be promoted.
