Seeking to replenish the equipment lost over more than three years of conflict in Ukraine, as well as to continue strengthening their air defense capabilities, the Russian Armed Forces have received their first batch of new Pantsir-S air defense systems for the current year 2025. The information, provided by the state conglomerate Rostec, aligns with efforts to promote the system on an international level.
In an official statement, Rostec stated: “The company ‘High-Precision Complexes,’ part of the State Corporation Rostec, delivered a batch of combat vehicles of the Pantsir-S missile and anti-aircraft gun system to the customer within the framework of the state defense order. The ‘Pantsir’ systems successfully passed the necessary tests and were accepted by representatives of the military inspection.”

As is often the case with such announcements from the Russian defense industry, no further details were provided, such as the number of systems delivered to the Ministry of Defense for deployment to the country’s Armed Forces. However, this new batch complements previous deliveries of missiles and systems made during the last months of the past year, 2024.
Specifically, in early October of last year, Rostec also confirmed the delivery of a new batch of Pantsir-S systems, which was later supplemented at the end of December with the provision of a significant batch of 57E6 anti-aircraft missiles. Additionally, within the framework of this announcement, Rostec highlighted its efforts to promote the system abroad. More precisely, the new Pantsir-SMD-E version was showcased at the IDEX 2025 International Defense Exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

This version, as seen in past images captured at the ARMY 2024 exhibition, features the adoption of launch systems for the new TKB-1055 missiles. These are a very recent development and are expected to have a range of up to 7 kilometers—a shorter range compared to the 57E6 missiles, which have a range of up to 20 kilometers—but designed for point defense against drones.
