Through a series of recently released official photographs, the Moroccan Armed Forces have confirmed that they are close to receiving their first AH-64E Apache attack helicopters from the United States. Although no further details have been provided, this initial batch of aircraft supplied by Boeing is expected to consist of three units to be delivered to the country’s air force.

At the end of June 2020, the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces confirmed the signing of a contract for the acquisition of a total of 24 new AH-64E Apache helicopters from the United States. This version of the aircraft, manufactured by Boeing and designated “Guardian,” is the most modern, having been introduced into the Aviation Regiments of the U.S. Army and allied forces either as newly built units or through upgrade programs for previous variants. Later, in November 2023, the company officially announced the start of production of the first units intended for the Moroccan Armed Forces.
Additionally, it should be noted that the new AH-64Es to be incorporated by Morocco come with their respective weapons package. As outlined in the U.S. Department of State’s authorization issued in 2019, the attack helicopters are to be equipped with Hellfire missiles in their AGM-114R and AGM-114L versions, along with AIM-92H Stinger air-to-air missiles for self-protection and engaging aerial targets.

Regarding the images shared on January 29 by the Moroccan Armed Forces, they show a batch of three aircraft already painted with the characteristic camouflage and insignia of the North African country’s Air Force. According to various reports, these photos were taken at Midland International Airport in Texas, suggesting that final test and acceptance flights are being conducted before their subsequent delivery.
While the arrival of the first units was initially expected in 2024, a slight delay has been noted, with their delivery and integration anticipated soon. The delivery schedule to the Moroccan Air Force is set to be completed, barring any unforeseen changes, by 2026.
