On June 25, the Republic of Argentina signed a series of agreements with Danish company TERMA A/S for the modernization and operational preparation of the Argentine Air Force’s F-16AM/BM fighter jets. The documents were signed by Argentina’s Minister of National Defense, Luis Petri, and representatives of the company, during an official visit to the Royal Danish Air Force’s Aalborg logistics base, where the first combat aircraft set to arrive in Argentina this December are currently being readied.

The agreement with TERMA had been anticipated the day before, on June 24, through the publication of Decree 423/2025 in Argentina’s Official Gazette. The decree approved the extension of jurisdiction in favor of the Danish Institute of Arbitration, based in Denmark, “…through the system it administers, in the contract for the development and implementation of hardware and software upgrades for the avionics of the MULTIROLE FIGHTER weapon system to be signed between the aforementioned Ministry and the company TERMA A/S…”

The recently signed agreement with the Danish company —which has extensive experience and knowledge of the F-16 weapon system, having provided modernization and upgrade services for the Danish fleet and other operators for decades— includes the modernization and operational readiness of several systems onboard the fighter jets to be incorporated into the Argentine Air Force.

“TERMA will provide key upgrades to electronic warfare systems, software and hardware updates, mission planning tools, ground support equipment, and technical assistance,” stated the Minister of Defense on his social media accounts upon signing the agreement.

As highlighted yesterday in a review of the company’s capabilities and offerings, noteworthy systems include the Advanced Countermeasures Dispenser System (ACMDS), the Pylon Integrated Dispensing System (PIDS), and the Electronic Combat Integrated Pylon System (ECIPS).

Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that during yesterday’s visit to the Aalborg logistics base, progress could be observed on the refurbishment and preparation work being carried out on the first F-16 fighters, which are scheduled to arrive at the Río Cuarto Air Base at the end of this year.

As explained by Commodore Juan Manuel Sosa and Vice Commodore Cristian Giaccaglia —leaders of the Argentine Air Force’s “Peace Condor” Program— in a recent interview with Zona Militar, “…six aircraft will arrive in December: four two-seaters and two single-seaters. They will be flown from Denmark with multiple in-flight refueling operations and likely intermediate stops. It is an operation currently being planned, and they will land in Río Cuarto.”
