Through a series of officially released documents, the Norwegian government has confirmed that in 2024 it completed the donation of a total of 14 F-16 Block 10/15 fighter jets to equip the Ukrainian Air Force. This is a significant figure, considering that last year Oslo had pledged, according to a report released in July, an initial batch of six aircraft from the Royal Norwegian Air Force, which has already completed the replacement of its Fighting Falcons with the new stealth F-35 fighters.
In recent weeks, it has been confirmed that the main members of the European coalition for the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine are progressing with the delivery of successive aircraft batches. Some countries, such as the Netherlands, have already completed their shipments, while others, like Denmark and Norway, are in the process of doing so. However, to date, no fighter jets from Belgium have been delivered, as that country has been facing delays in this process.

In Norway’s case, and according to reports from the United States Congress, the country received authorization to transfer up to a total of “…22 F-16 Block 10/15 aircraft, engines, support equipment, test benches, tools, maintenance material, simulators, spare parts, manuals, and technical documents, among other items,” as detailed by the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee in February 2024. Additionally, it was noted that the operation was valued at “…1.6835 billion dollars, a figure that includes everything from spare engines to simulators, manuals, tools, and various materials to operate and sustain the F-16s.”
Later, in July of the same year, the Norwegian government announced in an official statement that it expected to donate a total of six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine within that year.

However, as indicated in an import-export report issued by the Norwegian Agency for Export Control and Sanctions (DEKSA), dated June 6, the government completed the donation of a total of 14 F-16 jets, a figure higher than the one reported in July 2024.
Finally, it remains to be seen whether, based on the total number of aircraft authorized by the United States for transfer, the full delivery of the 22 F-16 units and the related operational equipment has been completed.
