Through NORINCO, the People’s Republic of China has marked its presence in Peru to participate in the 2025 International Defense and Security Exhibition (SITDEF). Showcasing a wide array of wheeled and tracked armored platforms—including armored personnel carriers and tanks—the Chinese firm continues its efforts to gain a foothold in a market historically dominated by American and European companies, but which in recent years has shown increasing interest in new suppliers of military equipment.

In a conversation with Zona Militar, NORINCO representatives stated that the company’s presence in Peru aims to meet the requirements of new and potential clients in a region where China stands as the main export destination.

They also emphasized that they are always attentive to the needs and requirements of the region’s armed forces, taking into account the significant re-equipment and modernization efforts underway in several countries across the Americas—such as the case of Peru in particular.

At their booth, NORINCO presented a significant variety of wheeled armored systems based on the VN-22 family platform, in both 6×6 and 8×8 configurations. The versatility of wheeled armored combat vehicles (WACVs) allows them to be adapted to a range of roles, from armored personnel transport to infantry fighting and anti-tank missions, as seen in the VN23 8×8 and VN22B 6×6.

Additionally, considering the urgent need to modernize integrated air defense systems, NORINCO showcased its LD35 (SWS2) proposal, which integrates a 35mm cannon and anti-air missile launch systems onto an 8×8 armored vehicle.

In the field of rocket artillery capabilities, NORINCO also highlighted its solutions based on the SR5 multiple rocket launcher system (MRLS) and the SH15 (PLC52) 155mm self-propelled howitzer.
