Within the framework of the LAAD 2025 defense and security exhibition—one of the most important events in the sector in Latin America—the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) signed an agreement with the company IACIT for the development of the new OTH 0200 Skywave over-the-horizon radar. The contract marks a significant step in Brazil’s strategy to strengthen its technological capabilities and expand air and maritime monitoring beyond the horizon using locally developed technology.
The signing ceremony was attended by a delegation of FAB authorities, led by its Commander, General Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno; the Director General of DECEA, General Maurício Augusto Silveira de Medeiros; and the President of CISCEA, Engineer Liutenant General Alexandre Arthur Massena Javoski.

The agreement between the FAB and IACIT also represents a bet on the national industry, consolidating the company as a key player in the development of advanced defense and surveillance solutions. Headquartered in São José dos Campos, IACIT has specialized since its founding in 1986 in electronic warfare systems, radars, meteorology, and navigation. The OTH 0200 Skywave will use ionospheric wave propagation technology to overcome the distance limitations of traditional radars, and will be designed to operate continuously and with high availability, even in complex and variable environments.
The OTH 0200 Skywave radar will be capable of detecting and tracking aircraft, vessels, and other objects at distances of up to 3,000 kilometers, including regions beyond the reach of conventional radars. This system will allow the FAB to significantly improve its situational awareness over the South Atlantic, a strategic area for Brazil due to both its maritime expanse and its wealth of natural resources.

The system will feature advanced digital processing capabilities, automatic target identification, and resistance to electromagnetic interference, making it a key tool for strategic surveillance tasks, air defense, and maritime traffic control. With this project, the Brazilian Air Force reinforces its commitment to the development of sovereign solutions and the consolidation of indigenous technological capabilities in the field of defense.
