The Brazilian Army authorized the acquisition of a second batch of M577 A2 Armored Vehicles (Command Post) from the remnants of the United States Army. The new acquired lot consists of 60 units of the M577A2 Armored Vehicle Command Post.

They are being acquired through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program under an agreement signed in 2015 between the United States Department of Defense (DoD) and the Brazilian Army.

In total, 200 units of the M577A2 vehicle were made available, in which the Brazilian Army has already received 34 units in a first batch received in 2016. The vehicles are part of the program of transfer of surplus material from the United States Army.
